Boo @ the Barn 2021 | Venus Texas Children Photographer

 It's that time of year again... for Boo @ the Barn!  I am so excited and can't wait to see how everyone dresses up this year!  I love having you all in the studio :) 

Boo @ the Barn is a fun customer event that we host here at the studio each year on Halloween.  It is a FREE event and you can just stop by on October 31, 2021 anytime between 4pm & 8pm.   We will take a photo of your trick or treater or even the whole family, if you all want to dress up!   We have treats, snacks, drinks, gift cards to the studio and a fun Coloring Contest.   This year I will create a facebook photo album and I will take photos of all the color pages and upload them to the folder (on our studio facebook page) we will have voting for a few days.  We will have a first, second & third place winners that we will announce on our social media pages.   First place will be for a FREE family mini session (value $225)    

We also ask that you bring a New toy or stuffed teddy bear with you to donate to Cook Children's Hospital.  Every year we collect toys and teddy bears throughout the holiday season and then deliver them all to Cooks the week prior to Christmas.  This helps bring some smiles and joy to those who are in the hospital during the Christmas season.   Hopefully we can take part in putting some smiles on faces!!

What you get in return is a FREE high resolution digital image of your trick or treater.  You will receive a link to download your image and you can print it as many times as you want and whatever size you want.  Your gift for your donation!

I do also put all images (watermarked) on our studio facebook page as well.  This makes it super easy to share with friends & family!

 Hey you guys!  I am super excited that the studio will be hosting our annual Boo @ the Barn again this year!  This is always such a fun night and we love that you stop and make us apart of your Halloween fun!

This is a FREE event that we host every year.  Simply stop by anytime between 4-8pm and bring your little trick or treaters and enjoy the fun!  We take their photo, give out studio gift cards, they get snacks and drinks (and of course we have candy) and this year we are adding in a coloring contest. :)

We will have an area set up for them to color a picture and we will be making a facebook folder for you guys to all vote.  We will give away a FREE family mini session (a $225 value) to one lucky winner!

We also ask that if you can bring along with you a new unwrapped toy or a stuffed animal or Teddy Bear that we can donate to Cook Children's Hospital.  We start collecting these at Boo each year and through the fall and Christmas season.  Then the week prior to Christmas we deliver them to the hospital for the families that will be in the hospital over the holiday.  What a great way to make a difference in the life of a family and hopefully bring some joy and laughter to them.  In return, you receive a complimentary digital image of your trick or treater.  This is a high resolution digital image, so you can print it as many times as you want, and as big as you want.

NO "Boo @ the Barn" and Medical Update...

Hey you guys!  I know it has been a while since I have sent out an ENews from the studio, but things have been a little busy around here.  As you know back in April my husband was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and he has had two very successful surgeries to repair damage to his C5, healed up from that and started his treatment for the Myeloma.  He has done very well during this treatment phase and the myeloma has responded well.   He was originally scheduled to do treatments for 8 rounds and that would put us in the beginning of December.  However, it has responded so well that we are now at the place of preparing for his Bone Marrow Transplant.  His Myeloma on a recent bone marrow biopsy showed less than 1% myeloma in his body and his blood showed 0! We are super thrilled with that!  The bone marrow transplant is to get him to remission and to keep him there longer.  It is life giving!  We are praying for full remission and for his disease to continue to be responsive and kept at bay.  God has been so very present throughout this entire journey and we want others to know of His goodness and grace through our story.  

My husband has had all of his workup testing and we are actually just waiting on our schedule to start the transplant process.  What that will entail is us relocating for a period of time closer to Medical City Dallas.  As we are too far out should he need care right away.   His bone marrow transplant is an Auto meaning he will donate to himself.  How that is done is they have the disease way under control with treatment and when we begin he will be given some shots to encourage his baby stem cells in his blood to grow.  This will be given for four days.  Then on day five they will start harvesting and freezing his baby stem cells.  These are baby blood cells that don't know what they want to be yet.  (Like white blood cells, red blood cells or platelets)  These are all cancer free!  They will harvest anywhere from 3 - 5 days (each session is about 5 hours)  Then once they get enough stem cells for this transplant and to save some for years down the road he will be admitted to the hospital.   Once admitted they will give him two days of high powered chemo and then a day of rest.  on the fourth day in the hospital they will give him his stem cells back.  This is done like a blood transfusion we have been told.  This is considered his NEW BIRTHDAY! and celebrated that day!  Then the process of watching and waiting for those to graft into his bone marrow begin.  He will feel bad during day 4 -10 or so and then start to feel better and be on the climb back to health.  After day 10 those stem cells will start making the new healthy white blood cells, red blood cells and lastly the platelets.  He will be in the hospital for about 3 weeks and then we will stay closer to the hospital for 1-3 months.  Just depends on progress and when we are released to go home from our transplant Dr.  

It is not anything we ever expected to experience or go through, but we are so grateful for the opportunity for healing.  Though the journey might not be easy, it will be worth it!  Please join us in praying that side effects will be minimal, doable. We are praying for complete healing and ultimately God's will in the journey.

I will update here from time to time, but not that often during the process.  As it is going to be a busy time and I will not be in my office during this time.

I share all of this so that you know what is happening and why the studio has not really been having any events and why I have only done a few sessions during this time.  As we are heading into Halloween this next week and one of the events we always host is "Boo @ the Barn"  but... this year there will be NO BOO!  So sorry, but I know you guys totally understand.  This is always such a fun fun night, but I plan on having it again in 2020!

Also, as we end October and head into the next few months the studio will be CLOSED! just for a period of time.  I will not be able to do any sessions, orders, etc. while we are away.   I hope to be able to reopen the studio sometime in the Spring of 2020.  I will keep you posted through our facebook page, blog and here in the E-News for when I reopen the studio.

I plan on having a fun "GRAND RE-OPENING" event.  I already have some ideas and am working on putting together a fun event to kick off getting back to work.  I LOVE what I do and I love being apart of your lives and look forward to the time that my husband and I can be back in the studio.

Boo @ the Barn 2014 | Venus Texas Family Photographer

WhoooHooo!  I am so excited to share all of these little Trick or Treaters that came by to visit us on Halloween night!  It's always so much fun meeting families and playing with the kiddos :)

We had a small group come by this year; but we still collected lot's of awesome stuffed animals for the Venus Fire Department!  Which is awesome because some small children will have a new friend to hug and love at a scary time.

Boo @ the Barn | Venus Texas Photographer | Halloween Photos

It's time for our 6th Annual "Boo @ the Barn" event.  This is always such a fun night and best of all it is a FREE event.  It's just our way of reaching out to the community and saying thank you for supporting our small business.

Each year we design a new set for our "Boo @ the Barn" and well it's time for me to share this year's design with you...

This is our 2014 "Boo @ the Barn" set design!!  

Love it and all of our little trick or treater's are going to look adorable.  Can't wait to see everyone!

You may or may not be familiar with our "Boo  @ the Barn" event so here is all the info...

Date:  October 31,  2014

Time:  4 - 8pm (it is first come/first serve)

Place:  Specialty Photography Studio
165 N. Armstrong Rd.
Venus, Texas 76084

What takes place?  We photograph all the children who come dressed in their Halloween costume.  We watermark all images and share them via face book - so that you can have a copy of the image.  We have treats for the children and coupons to the studio for mom's and dad's.  It is all come and go and it is a super fun night.

This event is FREE however; we are doing a little giving back with this event.  We will be collecting new Teddy Bear's for the Venus Fire Department and if we get too many the overflow goes to Cook Children's Hospital.  The Teddy Bears actually provide comfort for children that are injured or sick and are in need of care.  It simply is a snuggle friend that a paramedic can give a child when they are scared and not sure about what all is going on.  My daughter who is now 22 years old now, had a seizure at age 6 and she ended up taking a ride to Children's in an ambulance and was quite scared, as you can imagine.  The paramedics gave her this adorable little white teddy bear with red hearts all over it during her ride.  She clung to that little bear and it brought a smile to her face and thrilled this momma at a time when we were all very scared.  Thank goodness she simply had a reaction to some medication and she never had another other issues with seizures.   So, I love being able to give back and I know that these little bears will go to loving homes and will provide a smile and comfort at an urgent moment.

How to donate?  If you want to donate a Teddy Bear simply bring one with you for each child that will be photographed.  We will the provide you with a high resolution digital image of your child's "Boo @ the Barn" photo.  {$40 value}  You will get the print rights to the image and can reprint it as many times as you want to share with friends and family and you can print any size that you want and at any lab of your choice.

It's super easy to attend,  just bring your little one dressed in their costume, bring a stuffed Teddy Bear and you will get a social media image, a digital image, treats and a coupon to the studio.

5th Annual "Boo @ the Barn" {North Texas Children Photographer}

Hi SP Friends...

This week I will be sharing some of our exciting FALL events that we have coming up here at Specialty Photography.  I LOVE Fall!  Love all the Holiday's, family times and of course all the awesome photo's that are taken this time of year.  Plus... the air get's cooler & the colors are always so breathtaking {nothing to do with my specials, but hey it's just some reasons I love FALL lol!}

Today I am thrilled to share with you about our 5th Annual "Boo @ the Barn" (truly can not believe we will be celebrating 5 years in business this coming January - whoohoo)  Our "Boo @ the Barn" has always been a way for us as a studio to give back to our community by having a fun night that is FREE to the community & always provides help to organizations that ultimately help those in need.   Last year we collected TEDDY BEARS that went to the Venus Fire Department as well as Cook Children's Hospital.  I had a blast delivering all those awesome bears to both places.  This year we have decided to do the same thing only this year we are going to be collecting Teddy Bears and/or New unwrapped toys.  When we dropped off the Teddy Bears last year to Cook Children's Hospital we were so blessed to see all the donations coming in for those families who had to spend Christmas in the Hospital; what a special gift that all those around brought Christmas to them.   How could we NOT be involved in that opportunity again.  It absolutely just touched my heart so much.  It seems like such a small thing to give a Teddy Bear or a New unwrapped toy, but oh the JOY it brings to a family and a child on Christmas Morning when they are away from home and all things that are normal to them and they are fighting an illness that many times seems bigger than life itself.

So, JOIN US at our 5th Annual "Boo @ the Barn" and bring with you a Teddy Bear and/or a New Unwrapped Toy to be given to Cook Children's Hospital just in time for Christmas 2013.  All who attend will receive a FREE 5x7 digital print of your little trick or treater; a little goodie bag & a $50 gift card to the studio that you can use towards your next photo session or print purchase at the studio.  This event is first come, first serve so you don't even have to make an appointment, simply dress up your little one and head on over.
