Making "Street Portraits" | Venus Texas Portrait Photographer

This past Friday I had the privilege of being apart of a hands on photography workshop with Josh Jordan; through the I Heart Photography conference.    This workshop was for sure a little out of my comfort zone and that is one of the reason's I wanted to actually take the class.  So with some hesitation and a deep breath I jumped in and to my delight I learned a lot.  I learned that the Street people we encountered all had stories and were eager (for the most part) to share their story with us.  We had a goodie bag with nice warm socks and lots of yummy treats inside for them.   If they wanted we would take their portrait.  During the class we talked a lot about getting to know the people we were photographing, getting their permission with a signed release form (via our phones), and then setting up a portable studio and making the portrait.

The very first gentleman that we met shared that he has an art degree and he was very helpful in letting all of us take his portrait for our class.   He was a true joy!

Even though the morning was mixed with a cold rain, on and off, we all enjoyed getting out and meeting new people and interacting with them.  Most of all I loved giving them a gift bag and visiting with them.

We also learned later in the day more about post processing these type of portraits.  Here are a few of my favorites from the class....
